After Coolers

Water Cooled After Cooler

An efficient tube-in-shell cooling solution for sites requiring compact footprint and lower compressed air outlet temperatures.

Operating Principle

Water Cooled After Cooler

Water cooled units transfer heat from compressed air into cooling water through tube-in-shell exchanger design.

When correctly sized, compressed air outlet temperature can approach within around 5C of water supply temperature.

  • Compact footprint
  • Can be installed vertically or horizontally
  • Almost entirely maintenance free
  • No electrical power required
  • Efficient heat exchange performance

Application and Performance Notes

Application and Performance Notes

Water cooled after coolers are effective where chilled water is already available on site.

For example, with chilled water supplied at 5C, compressed air can often be cooled to approximately 10C before downstream drying.

This provides a cost-effective route to lower moisture load and improved dryer efficiency in temperature-sensitive compressed air systems.

  • Supports lower dew point pre-cooling
  • Stable cooling under continuous duty
  • Ideal for plants with existing chilled water systems
  • Reduced downstream dryer burden
